Good Evening!  This is Dr. Hedrick, bringing you some important announcements. In sports, our volleyball team will host a game Monday for the conference championship.  Our football team travels on Tuesday, and soccer plays on Thursday.  This is a special week, so the home volleyball and soccer games will only cost $2.00.  We hope all of you will be able to come out and support our teams! This is a safety note.  It is essential for the safety of your child to adhere to our carpool procedures.  You MUST drop off your child at the auditorium parking lot.  We do not allow any children to be dropped off on any side streets, including Moore and Mason Streets.  These side streets are very dangerous locations for drop-offs because of the amount of traffic and buses coming in and going out of our campus.  Our School Resource Officer will be monitoring carpool and will take appropriate action. I have a few reminders for you:Our Veteran’s Day Flag Ceremony is Nov 10 at 7:45am.Wednesday, November 11 is a holiday.Make-up pictures are November 13. I’d like to say a big thank you to all the parents who supported our team celebrations this week. That’s all!  Thanks and have a wonderful weekend!

OCTOBER 2, 2009
Good Morning!   This is your principal, Dr. Hedrick, with a few important weekend announcements.

Students, we hope you’ll come to our home football game this Wednesday against Holly Ridge.   If you stay for the game, we’re going to ask you to report to the gym and remain there until the game starts.   You can’t go wandering around the school or go off campus: if you do, we’re going to call your parents to come and get you.    Go Cougars!

Parents, this is a reminder that carpool drop-offs and pick-ups are at the bottom parking lot near the athletic fields and auditorium.   Please don’t take a chance with children’s safety by asking them to cross traffic or come to your car on Mason St or at the intersection of Mason and Moore.   The time you save is not worth the chance of an injury.

Parents, it’s my pleasure to introduce Cougar Coffee, a chance to catch up and just talk.   We’ll be having Cougar Coffee every Wednesday following our PTA meetings, at 8:30am in the cafeteria.   If you miss the PTA meeting or just want to talk, it’s free, so come and join us!

That’s all!   Thank you and have a great weekend!

September 11, 2009

Good Evening, Apex Middle School!   This is Camille Hedrick with several important phone messages. We have a new club at Apex Middle, the Apex Orchestra Club.  If you’re interested in joining, please come to the informational meeting on September 17 at 3:30 in the Orchestra Room.  You can find related forms on the website. Students, we have one more week left to raise money for our fundraiser.  It ends on September 21.  Please bring in your orders and money on that day.  Parents, Apex Middle teachers update grades electronically every 3 weeks, which means progress reports will be available to you on SPAN after Friday, September 18. And finally, a couple of safety notes.  The first one is for you early birds: Apex Middle is a very safe school, but I want to remind you that our staff doesn’t begin supervision duty in the morning until 7:40.  The second one is for carpool parents: please be very safety conscious when it comes to dropping off and picking up children.  For safety’s sake, we ask that all parents pick up students at the lower auditorium parking lot on Moore Street.  Especially, please don’t ask your child to cross the street or wait on the corner.  The minutes you save are not worth the risk.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Good morning!  This is Dr. Hedrick, your principal at Apex Middle School, with an important message.  We launched our PTA fundraising drive yesterday and you should have received related information yesterday.  There’s information about it on our website as well.  We’re excited about a new feature: online inputting.  We think this is going to make orders much simpler. This fundraiser runs for 2 weeks. All of us at Apex Middle would like to express our gratitude to our PTA for all their hard work on behalf of our children.  Thank you and have a wonderful and restful holiday!

August 24, 2009

Good Evening, Cougars!  This is Dr. Hedrick, your principal, with a few announcements.   I hope you know that tomorrow is our first day of school!  Your teachers are very excited to see you after the long summer vacation.  Wednesday, August 26, is our first Wake Wednesday.  That means all students get out of school one hour early so teachers can collaborate to improve learning and teaching.  This will happen every Wednesday. Students, I have a couple of notes for you:
  • When you get here in the morning, 6th grade students should report directly to homeroom.  7th and 8th grade students should report to the gym.  Students who want breakfast should report to the cafeteria.
  • And now, good news!  The air conditioner in building B is fixed, so please dress appropriately

 Parents, this is for you:

  • If you carpool, for safety’s sake, please drop students off only in the designated spot, not on any street.
  • Also, if you need to check out your children, for safety’s sake we will be checking IDs, so please have them available.  And this is just a reminder that it’s difficult to check anyone out after 2:30 because of time constraints.

Thanks, Cougars, and have a great first day tomorrow!
